Nutritious Diet Imperative for Evolving as a Boxer

Boxing has become largely popular sport across the world. It would not be wrong to suggest that the sport has evolved with time. Earlier there were no rules pertaining to the sport. However, with passage of time, the sport was introduced with a wide number of rules for the safety of the boxer. During the early days of boxing matches, boxers have suffered severe injuries. Some were fatal as well. Therefore, the 3-minute round rule, 30-second count rule, boxing gloves and mouth guard were made compulsory taking care of the safety of the boxer.

The boxer has to remain fit and healthy for the fight. Therefore, he or she would be required to incorporate three essential foods in their diet. Carbohydrates, fats and protein would play a significant role in the diet of the boxer to keep him or her healthy and within the desired weight. It would be essential for the boxer to keep him or her match ready.

Need for nutritious diet

In order to keep the boxer ready and match fit, the nutritious foods would be of great importance. Therefore, carbohydrates, protein and fat would play a significant role in the diet of the boxer. Carbohydrates would be required for the anaerobic nature of the sport. It would need the boxer to maintain high energy levels for 12 highly intensive 3-minutes rounds. Carbohydrates would release energy gradually while replacing it with stores glycogen. Similarly, protein would be required to assist in maximising the recovery along with contributing in muscle growth. Most boxers have been using protein shakes as an addition to their nutritious diet regime. Fats would be required for up keeping the internal functions of the body.
